You Already Belong

For much of my life, I moved through the world with a quiet, persistent question in the background: Where do I belong?

I wouldn’t always say it out loud, but it showed up in the way I scanned a room. In the way I shaped myself to fit in. In how I tried to be useful, adaptable, and likable. Whether it was at a new school, in a new job, a family gathering, or even among friends—I’d often find myself looking for the edges. Testing the space. I wondered if there was room for me, exactly as I was.

This question became a quiet driver.

It helped me become an observer.

A connector.

A guide for others.

In many ways, it made me who I am today—a coach, a designer, someone who helps others find clarity, direction, and purpose. But for a long time, I thought I had to earn that belonging. That if I just did enough, gave enough, proved myself enough, then maybe I’d feel it.

But here’s what I’ve come to understand:

That question—Where do I belong?—was never meant to be answered by the outside world.

Because belonging isn’t something we find. It’s something we remember.

It’s something we already carry.

It lives in the way we show up when we’re not trying to perform.

It lives in our story—the messy, beautiful, complex story that shaped us.

It lives in the quiet ways we make others feel safe, seen, and understood.

That’s the quiet magic so many of us don’t recognize in ourselves.

I’ve seen this again and again in the people I work with.

People who’ve built incredible things, who are brilliant at what they do—and yet still carry the weight of that same question: Do I really belong here?

They think they’re alone in it. But they’re not.

So if you’re reading this and you’ve felt like you’re too much, or not enough…

If you’ve struggled to find your place in the world, or wondered if there is one…

If you’ve twisted yourself to fit in, or made yourself small to stay safe…

Please hear this:

You already belong.

Not because of what you do.

Not because someone else says so.

But because of who you are.

Because you carry it with you.

And the moment you begin to trust that—truly trust it—is the moment everything begins to shift. Your voice steadies. Your presence deepens. And you become the kind of person who reminds others that they belong too.

That’s what I’ve been learning to do.

And it’s what I invite you to practice with me.

You don’t have to go searching anymore.

Just start listening to what’s already inside you.

That’s where your belonging has been all along.
